Mission and Vision
Mission Statement
The Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers, Boston Chapter (SHPE Boston or the Chapter) is a professional organization whose goal is to enable Latinos in the New England area (including MA, ME, NH, VT and RI) to pursue, obtain and develop successful careers with top research and development, high-tech (i.e., hardware, software and IT services), and communications companies, as well as other science- and engineering-based organizations.
SHPE Boston achieves these goals by collaborating with its corporate partners and its membership to promote education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields, and providing resources for professional and career development to its members.
Vision Statement
SHPE Boston believes that the New England region, and in particular, the Greater Boston-area, due to its Latino population, educational network, and high concentration of research and development, high-tech, and communications companies, is a premier place in the United States to cultivate and develop Latino talent for careers in science and engineering.
Based on this belief, SHPE-Boston’s vision is:
- (1) To be the premier organization in the New England area for science- and engineering-based companies and organizations to recruit and retain quality and qualified Latino talent,

- (2) To assist its members in developing leadership skills and attaining leadership roles in the organizations in which they work, and

- (3) To promote education in science and engineering to communities with large Latino and diverse populations.
